4 Night Burren Coast Photo Workshop
The emphasis on Mike Brown photo holidays is to have a relaxed and fun experience with Mike on hand to help you to make great images. Mike will assist where necessary and give loads of advice on any photographic issues you have. We will also have discussions and practical sessions on processing and on other types of photography during the non shooting times.
Great accommodation and good company with fantastic photo opportunities is what we aim provide. You can see some comments from previous Landscape workshop participants on our testimonials page here.
The holiday will be based on the beautiful Burren coast close to the village of Fanore, with views across to the Aran islands.
This area is renowned for its beautiful and rugged landscapes and scenery [both coastal and inland] and most importantly the fantastic limestone pavement which makes it famous. This area is packed full of photo opportunities with superb locations and we will visit some diverse and interesting areas during the workshop.
Accommodation and Food:
We will be staying in a superb self catering house which has 6 bedrooms with 5 en suite. All rooms will be single occupancy [all with en suite] but of course couples are welcome.
On most nights we will eat in a local restaurant or pub close to where we end up after our evening photography sessions.
However if anyone wishes to cook themselves or get food from local take away to bring back to the house this is fine.
Day 1: Thursday
Arrange to arrive at our accommodation in the early or mid afternoon. We will have an evening session of photography while getting to know one another and then arrange to have an evening meal locally.
Days 2,3,4: Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Mike prefers not to have a rigid itinerary for these days except to make the most of the weather conditions available. Mike will make a call each evening of what we will do for the following day. Some days will involve a pre breakfast shoot to get the early morning light and then we may take a break during the day before an evening shoot. Otherwise we will be out an about for the full day if the weather is more suitable for daytime photography. We will get plenty of photographic opportunities during these days but we will not physically kill you either! We will try to give you a chance to look around local towns and villages in the locality. We will also find some time during these days and evenings to look at digital processing using Photoshop and look at images from participants who wish to get critique and appraisal on their previous work.
Sunday night is included and I offer to do a final early session on Monday morning before packing up and heading away just before midday. If anyone has to head home late on Sunday night for work Monday morning that is fine.
What you get:
All accommodation is included and breakfast materials both hot and cold will be supplied for each day [I will be cooking for those who want the full Irish - again see the testimonials!].
Lunches and evening meals are up to individual participants however there will be a plentiful supply of Tea, Coffee, biscuits and some snacks in the house.
We will usually go to local pubs/restaurants for evening meals and each participant looks after themselves for this. Take away alternatives are available locally if you prefer. This will allow everyone to have their own budget and eating requirements catered for.
Expert guidance and tuition from Mike during the whole weekend.
All participants will receive a signed copy of Mike's most recent book "Wild Water, Wild Light - Images of the West Cork coastline".
All participants will receive a copy of Mike’s Digital processing Ebook “From Capture to Print” on CD [you will also receive updates whenever Mike does them by email. The CD includes full digital processing notes from Raw to print ready and some notes on making good exposures with examples.
Lenses, tripods, filters and cameras may be available to borrow or hire during the holiday by prior arrangement with Mike.
